Course Structure

Levels

There are only two levels:

I SPEAK FRENCH
I AM FLUENT IN FRENCH

Each level comprises two modules of twelve lessons/18hrs. Students can choose to take a break after each module and then return to continue with the next module. In this scenario, they will need a bridging course of 3 hrs. to refresh on the previous module. The student can register for only one module (18 hours) but if he/she chooses a module higher than module 1 of the “I SPEAK FRENCH” level, he/she has to sit for a placement test.

Lesson Structure

Each lesson lasts 1.5 hours, consisting of:

Warm-up (ice-breaking): 5mn
Grammar or vocabulary or text: 40 mm
Conversation (debate, role play, games, etc.): 45 mm.
The teacher and the participants are encouraged to speak only French in the class for communicating.

Class Size

1-on-1, or semi private (maximum 4 students)

Lesson Overview

From Module 1 Lesson 2, the teacher will start speaking mainly in French but the student can still ask questions in English. For Module 4 (lesson 10-12) all the lessons will be conducted in French.

From Module 2 Lesson 5 to Module 3 Lesson 8, the student will be asked to work individually or as a team on a given project. The project will be in relation to their occupation or subject of interest

From Lesson 9, the focus will be on communication and the teacher will select themes/topic for discussion in class.

From Lesson 10, the student will select the theme/topic themselves.

For Module 4 Lesson 11, the school will organise tours to French companies and organisations based in Singapore. The school will also invite French individuals to give talks to present the region they originated from or present their company.

At the end of each module the student may sit for a graded examination, which is not compulsory.

Certifications and Materials

Certifications

There are two types of certificates. Those who do not want to sit for the exam but attend 80% of the course will be given a certificate of achievement. But those who sit for the exam will receive a certificate of proficiency if they pass.
