FRENCH FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

LOWER PRIMARY

The courses are customized to the learning needs of younger students, aged 5 to 7. The students are exposed to the French language in the fun way through games and activities. They will be encouraged to participate in all activities to enhance their interests in the French language and culture.

Materials used at this stage of their learning process include LES LOUSTICS 1, 2 and Génial 1 book (Textbook and workbook) plus materials prepared and customized by the teachers.

At each level, the four language skills are developed and assessed:
– Listening comprehension
– Reading comprehension
– Speaking skills
– Writing skills

UPPER PRIMARY

The courses are intended for children, aged 8 to 11, learning French as a foreign language or as a language in Lieu of Mother Tongue in primary schools.
At each level, the four language skills are developed and assessed:

– Writing skills

ASSESSMENTS

The courses are conducted in line with MOE requirement and curriculum especially for students doing the French language in lieu of Mother Tongue.

Students will be tested on skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening and will be marked based on
two types of assessments:

Continual Assessment (CA) – This type of assessment is used to assess the student monthly performance.

Parents and Student’s school may receive a Progress Report on the student performance.

ACADEMIC LEVEL

At this level, students can opt for the French international diploma: DELF Prim “A 1.1”, “A1” and “A2”. ASOE has a comprehensive course to prepare students for these diploma.

At the end of the primary cursus, the student will reach the Elementary Level.

1. Oral Comprehension: able to understand simple oral instructions & commands; simple oral descriptions; simple oral information and data in the form of figures.
2. Oral Expression/Interaction: able to participate in guided interviews & activities designed to encourage oral expression.
3. Written Comprehension: Understand simple written information; written message or postcard; simple information from short text.
4. Written Expression: able to write personal details, a short message or postcard.
